Membership Details

Membership with Academy of Certified Counsellors are listed as follow:

  • AFFILIATE MEMBER OF ACC
  • STUDENT MEMBER OF ACC (SMACC)
  • ASSOCIATE MEMBER (AMACC)
  • FULL MEMBER OF ACC (MACC)
  • CLINICAL MEMBER OF ACC (CMACC)
  • FELLOW MEMBER OF ACC (FACC)
  • INSTITUTIONAL MEMBER OF ACC (IMACC)

Details

Membership Criteria

1. Affiliate Member of ACC – S$40 per year

  • Those who have just recently graduated from Junior Colleges, Tertiary Institutions, Universities, who have no background in counselling and would like to pursue and look into this field or are interested in counselling work.

2. Student Member Of ACC (SMACC) S$50 per year

  • Students who are presently undertaking Diploma courses offered by the ACC School of Counselling and Psychology or related courses offered by other recognized institutions (subjected to the approval of the ACC).

3. Associate Member Of ACC (AMACC) S$60 per year

  • Persons who have graduated with a Diploma from the ACC School of Counselling and Psychology, or those with at least a Diploma in Counselling related field from a recognized institutions (subjected to the approval of the ACC).
  • Persons who are working as Social worker, counsellors or Psychologist with at least 100 hours of face to face counseling under supervision each year, or
  • Persons who are able to produce evidence of a minimum of 100 hours face to face counselling under supervision each year.

4. Full Member Of ACC (MACC) S$80 per year

  • Persons who have a Bachelor’s Degree in Counselling or a related field; or
  • Persons who have a Diploma in Counselling or in related field must have at least three years of practical experience in counselling or a related field, or
  • Persons who are able to produce evidence of a minimum of 300 hours face to face counselling under supervision each year.

5. Clinical Member Of ACC (CMACC) S$100 per year

  • Persons who have at least a Master’s Degree in Counselling or a related field; and
  • Persons who have at least five years of practical experience and have completed at least 300 hours of either face to face, group work and/or supervision each year.
  • Persons who have supervised counsellors or people of related field of at least 50 hours each year.

6. Fellow Member Of ACC (FACC) Only by Invitation

  • This category is for individual who has contributed to the field of counselling and psychology.
  • This is by invitation only.

7. Institutional Member Of ACC (IMACC) S$500/year

  • For Companies, Organizations, Corporations, etc. who are keen to provide professional counselling and psychotherapy for their employees, stakeholders, etc.

Benefits of being ACC Members

A) General

  • A Membership Certificate will be issued to every member of ACC except Affiliate and Student Membership.
  • The validity of the Certificate will be in accordance to the starting date and duration of membership fee paid.
  • Should a person desires to apply for a three (3) years membership instead of one, he or she is entitled to a 10% discount over the total membership fees of three years. The application for this three years membership will be subjected to the approval committee.
  • The Certificate of Membership can be placed in their office premises or personal keeping to establish their recognition with ACC.
  • Membership cards are available at a cost of S$20.
  • A fee of S$20 would be charge to anyone who wishes to replace the Membership card.
  • Members from “Student member” and above are entitled to print their membership position (e.g. AMACC, MACC, CMACC, etc.) on their name cards.
  • Every member will be entitled to an ACC T-Shirt. Those renewing their membership would no longer be entitled.
  • Should they wish to purchase the ACC T-Shirt, they can call ACC to place an order.

B) Workshops and Seminars

  • For Affiliate Members, they will be able to enjoy a 10% off all workshops and Seminars conducted by ACC or external trainers or organizations.
  • Student Members and above will enjoy 40% when attending workshops and Seminars conducted by ACC.
  • For Workshops or Seminars conducted by external trainers or organization but hosted by ACC, Student members and above would be entitled to a 20% discount.

C) Related Field

  • Opportunities to interact with professionals in the field.
  • Invitations for professional group talks and discussions.
  • Latest news update on trends in counselling and psychology.

D) Counselling Services

  • Counselling services by Professionals at special rates
  • For Institutional members, their employees can be referred to Singapore Counselling Centre (SCC) for counselling at 10% off normal fees unless otherwise stated by the contractual agreements between SCC and the institute concerned.

Membership Administrative Requirements

1. Please Click Here to download Membership Application Form.
2. Please be sure to read the Code of Ethics and to abide by it.
3. Submit in person or mail completed Membership Application Form (Original) to the Academy of Certified Counsellors.
4. Ensure the following documents are attached:

  • a) Photocopy of NRIC for Singapore citizen or PR; FIN for those under work permit
  • b) Photocopy of relevant Certificates;
  • c) Photocopy of Other Professional Membership Certificates
  • d) Records of Counselling practice hours, supervision hours, Continuous Professional Education, etc.

5. Upon approval, applicants would be notified to make payment of corresponding Membership Fee.

  • For Clinical Members who are currently practicing but wishes to come under the Singapore Counselling Centre, or in need for a counseling room, they can call the Academy of Certified Counsellors to arrange for a meeting to discuss the necessary policies and rates.
